Marie Gudme Leth often found inspiration for her work in travel and nature. The guinea fowl pattern dates from the period when she worked with naturalistic and romantic patterns that contained a narrative element and a lot of humor.
In this pattern, guinea fowl wander among green palms and ferns with wide, wondering eyes. The exotic landscape is reminiscent of Java, where Marie Gudme Leth spent several years, as well as other countries in the Far East that she also had the opportunity to visit on this extensive trip, including Malaysia, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and India.
The pattern is printed with free-drawn lush flowers, where the colors overlap, making it difficult to distinguish the individual pattern edges from each other.
