Marie Gudme Leth often found inspiration for her works on her travels and in nature. The guinea fowl pattern originates from the period when she worked with naturalistic and romantic patterns that contained a narrative element and a lot of humor.

In this pattern, guinea fowls wander among green palms and ferns with wide, wondering eyes. The exotic landscape brings to mind Java, where Marie Gudme Leth lived for several years, as well as other countries in the Far East that she also had the opportunity to visit on this extensive journey, including Malaysia, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and India.

The pattern is printed with freely drawn lush flowers, where the colors overlap, making it difficult to distinguish the individual pattern edges from each other.
