Hand printed and sewn in Sweden
Årebonaden as a pillow gives the classic motif a new expression in the home. Here, form and function meet in a hand-printed pillowcase that carries the same rich story of Åre's history, landscape and culture - now in a format that suits the bedroom, living room or mountain cabin.
The pattern was created by Paul Sahlin and contains many of the details that make Årebonaden so beloved: Åre's mountain world, the mountain railway, Åre church, reindeer and grouse, trail crosses, and the sign pointing to Storlien, Duved, Tännforsen and Blåhammaren.
Nils Thomasson - the Sami photographer whose treasure trove of images is an important part of the region's cultural heritage - is also included in the motif.
The cushion cover is printed by hand in our printing house in Jämtland with water-based pigment inks, and then sewn in our studio. The strong linen gives a beautiful structure that highlights the many small illustrations and allows the story to come into its own even in the smaller format.
A textile for those who carry the mountains with them - or want to give the home a piece of Åre's history.
Perfect as a solitaire on a bed or sofa, or together with other patterns in a personal overall expression.
Part of the proceeds go to the Åre Parish Local History Association.
